Reproofing Your Tent
In order to maintain the life-length of your tent and to ensure there are no nasty leaks through the night, it is imperative to re-proof your tent. if you use your tent on a regular basis, BreakOutdoors recommends that you use re-proofing products at the end of the camping season, or once a year. However, if you use your tent simply on the occasional weekend, then once every two years should be sufficient. Follow the simple steps below to keep your inner tent puddle free.
Step One: Follow the BreakOutdoors guide to cleaning your tent.
Step two: Choose a re-proofing product such as fabsil and Techwash. If the proofer you choose is a water-based proofer, then it is recommended that you apply it to your tent whilst it is still damp. If the proofer is non-water based, then allow it to dry fully before applying.
Step three: Apply the proofer according to the individual instructions, as they vary for different products.
Step four: Allow your tent to dry thoroughly before packing away.
If you feel your tent needs reproofing in a certain area, then most reproofing products can be applied to patches of the tent, rather than reproofing the whole of the outer tent.
